Scripture Focus
'Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. '
James 1:2-4 (NIV) (https://my.bible.com/bible/111/JAS.1.2-4)
We want life to be as easy as possible. We want our problems to end quickly and painlessly. But what happens if all our problems ended quickly and painlessly? Would we be able to trust God in our individual circumstances? When our difficulties and problems don’t end as we would want them to, it forces us to rely on God who is willing and able to help us.
When we wait on God to act on our behalf, He is helping us to have perseverance. Perseverance is a necessary quality of a mature believer and follower in Christ -to trust God in the middle of our problems and issues. Trusting in God alone allows us to have hope and joy when there are problems and issues.
Let us look at this example of Peter.
(See Matthew 14:22-33, https://www.bible.com/bible/111/MAT.14.22-29,31-33).
We need to keep our eyes on Jesus when we are going through storms in life. Peter focused his eyes on Jesus and was able to walk on water. However, when Peter began to focus on the winds and the waves he started to drown. We can learn a valuable lesson from this passage. When we focus on Jesus in our trials, God can allow us to do great things for him. When we take our eyes off Jesus, we will be overwhelmed by our circumstances. We all are going through some difficult times right now. We need to keep our eyes focused on Jesus and realize that He is more powerful than the storms we face in this life.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father,
We are going through uncertain times right now. We know that You are in control and You are more powerful than the storms we face in this life. Please give us the grace to persevere and overcome the circumstances that are around us. Help us to trust You in all things. Give us more of your peace regardless of what's going on around us.
We surrender those who are dealing with difficult times right now. Whether it is illness, financial struggles, loss of a loved one or having a loved one who is sick - we pray that You give them Your Healing, Your Comfort, Your Peace and Your Strength. Please bring deliverance to our world from this pandemic. We love you Lord. We surrender all our burdens and prayer requests into Your Hands.
We ask all these things in Jesus name.
Amen.
If anyone has not received Jesus as their Lord and Savior and wishes to do so, please say the prayer below:
Heavenly Father,
Please forgive me for my sins.
